Are you a lonely christian looking for a date online? Do you really know who you are chatting with? Even if you think you do- they may not be who they seem!

With the explosion of online dating services online, scam artist our targeting new prey- and that may just be you! These new online dating scams are very clever as they prey on your loneliness and good faith.

It all starts out so innocently as a friendly conversation through a chat or emial. Over the next few weeks the person that you have gotten to know and feel may be the person of your dreams starts to claim some crazy stuff is going on in their life.

First of all... they may have been sending you emails or chatting with you about them being overseas on a assignment or visiting some relatives. All of a sudden though, they have ran into some real problems- like they lost their passports, or a relative has died or became real ill or some other financial related problem.

At that point, they may then start asking you for money to be wired or sent to them to help them out so they can get back to the States so they can finally meet you, their new love of their life. They may have even sent you some presents or flowers within those few weeks they have known you to build your trust.

These are just ploys though to get you to overlook these possible but shady bad luck scenarios. The bad thing about these scams is that they keep evolving into different things to try to prey on innocent and trusting individuals like yourself.

To protect yourself, or someone that you know that may be trying christian online dating out currently here are some warning signs to look out for. But remember- these are just a few tips as these crooks know how to work the system and are constantly changing their stories.


1.) Watch out on the first email that it looks like it is a generic email that may have been sent to hundreds of others trying to fish for a unsuspecting subject for their scam. Make sure that it seems like the first contact starts like they took time to write it like they are sincer in meeting a new person like yourself.

2.) In chatting or emailing someone the first few times make sure that they are not evasive in answering some of your questions. If they seem to answer questions generically or evasively then they may be trying to hide something from you right of the bat.

3.) Red flags should start flying if the subject of finances comes up as no one should be asking this when looking for friendship or a partner when starting out. If they keep persisting then you know that this is a strong motive for them to get your financial data or scam you out of your money- stop contacting this person right away!

4.) And I hate to state this, but if you are average looking and the person who has contacted you posts a picture of themselves and is very beautiful, then they may be using a generic picture of someone online.


Christian dating online can be a very rewarding experience... but I hope with these tips that you can avoid any potential pitfalls associated with online dating scams.
